Colectivo Gives Back ‘22 - The Art Room
We love creating content and lending our services to organizations and causes that we believe in. Over the years we’ve donated our time and expertise to organizations such as our neighborhood GOAL team, Nette Shultz Elementary, Friends with Benefits Denton, and Denton Bail Fund just to name a few. For the second year in a row, we’ve looked to our community to nominate a local non-profit to win a complete video package. We call this “Colectivo Gives Back”. It’s an effort to support a local organization that improves and impacts the community we live in. The final video we giveaway is meant to help the organization’s fundraising efforts on North Texas Giving Day. We understand that proper video production and media creation are not cheap and smaller organizations might not have marketing or media creation allotted in their yearly budgets. Our donation is meant to ease that stress and offer a gift they wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise.
We had quite a few more nominations this year via our social media posts and a ton of organizations that would be amazing to work with. This year’s winner was The Art Room Denton, an organization that supports the mental health and well-being of its members through art classes and services. Additionally, they work with other local non-profits, organizations, and charities to provide artwork in their spaces. Through their work, they’re really making a lasting impact in those who come by their location and we couldn’t have thought of a better cause to help.
The production process was pretty straightforward. It consisted of a single day of shooting. This included 3 on-camera interviews and a b-roll session of us recording a real class taking place at their studio. This gave us plenty of footage to craft a piece together to bump up their fundraising efforts. Our first interview was with Samika Swift, a local author, and artist. She is a member of The Art Room and routinely utilizes their services. Secondly, Leslie Kregel, a board member of the Art Room and art educator, gave us insight into the function and operation of the space. Lastly, the President of The Art Room, Marlys Lamar, spoke directly to the camera to give the viewer direct insight and information, as well as the proper ask for donations.
Ultimately, we created a video of just over three minutes that 1. Gave those unfamiliar with The Art Room an overview of what they do 2. A real example of the impact the organization is making 3. Why an organization like The Art Room is a place that improves the community we share. By the end of North Texas Giving Day, The Art Room Denton raised $18,630. We are incredibly proud of our work and that we helped them run a successful campaign. We’ll be back next year with our 2023 installment of Colectivo Gives Back and can’t wait to see what new organizations are supporting our community!
